Coin and line bets differ between each slot that you play. In this article we explain the different coin and line bets you will be making when playing Malaysian based online slots. This article will especially help you if you are a beginner and those that are confused about the different ways some slot developers present the betting options.

Selecting how many lines you would like to bet per spin

This is very easy to get to grips with. Some slots will have a section on the slot’s control panel that simply says; ‘Lines’ or ‘Bet per Line’ or ‘Line Bets’’.

You will be able to select how many lines you would like to bet using the selection options that comes with the option to select the number of lines you would like to play.

Which players would this style of slot suit?

  • For those that like to play a particular slot, but do not want to bet on ALL lines, then slots that allow the player to select the number of lines he/she wants to bet is the best option.

  • If you are playing a 50 lines slot, but do not want to bet on all 50 lines because the minimum spin is too high, then you will be able to select 20 lines, or 30 lines. Effectively, this style of slots allows you to decide the number of lines you want to bet

  • Great for low stake players because players are given the ability to reduce the cost per spin

Slots with fixed line bets

This is basically the opposite to the section above. Some slots will not let you select how many pay lines you want to play. If it is a 20 pay-line slot, then you will be forced to bet all 20 lines. As a result, the minimum bet will be 20 lines per spin.

Which players would this style of slot suit?

  • Only players that are ok with the minimum spin bet, which is inclusive of all lines on the slot

Adding more coins per line (Multi-Coin Slots)

There are many slots out there that will allow you to add more coins per line. These are the most complicated slots to understand, but after reading this and practising a little, you will no problems getting to grips with this concept.

How does it work?

Let’s take a 15-pay line slot as our example. You will bet all 15 lines and set the bet per line to 10 MYR per line. Over 15 lines this is 150 MYR per spin. However, some people would like to bet more than this per spin.

  • To bet more, some slots allow players to add more coins per line

So, if you decide to bet 2 coins per line on this 15 pay-line slot, and your coin is set to 10 MYR, then you are betting 2 coins over 15 lines.

  • 2 Coins per line
  • 15 lines bet
  • 10 MYR per coin
  • 2 coins x 15 lines = 30 coins
  • 30 coins x 10 MYR = 300 MYR per spin

Let’s look at more scenarios where you can increase the number of coins you bet per line:

  • 5 Coins per line
  • 15 lines bet
  • 10 MYR per coin
  • 5 coins x 15 lines = 75 coins
  • 30 coins x 10 MYR = 750 MYR per spin

In the next example, we change the coin bets to just 1 MYR per spin:

  • 10 Coins per line
  • 25 lines bet
  • 1 MYR per coin
  • 10 coins x 25 lines = 250 coins
  • 250 coins x 1 MYR = 250 MYR per spin

In the next example, try to figure it out for yourself. Pay special attention to detail to the ‘bet per coin’ and ‘number of coins’ being wagered.

  • 7 Coins per line
  • 20 lines bet
  • 1 MYR per coin
  • * coins x ** lines = *** coins
  • *** coins x 1 MYR = *** MYR per spin

Now compare your own analysis to the answer to the correct answer below. If you get this correct, then you already understand the basic concept of how coin bets work on slots:

  • 7 Coins per line
  • 20 lines bet
  • 1 MYR per coin
  • 7 coins x 20 lines = 140 coins
  • 140 coins x 1 MYR = 149 MYR per spin

You can now use your own formula to practise your understanding of coin bets and how they work, then go to try out slots that allow multiple coins bets per line.

  • ** Coins per line
  • ** lines bet
  • ** MYR per coin
  • ** coins x ** lines = *** coins
  • *** coins x 1 MYR = *** MYR per spin

Which players would this style of slot suit?

  • Generally, only high stakes players will benefit from this style of slot because they will want to wager more per line if the number of lines of the slot is low or the player just likes high value spin bets

Combined line selection and coin bets

On very rare occasions you will come across a generous slot that will allow you to choose how many lines per spins as well as allow you to opt to place more than 1 coins per line.

This does not happen often, but this style of slot does exist nonetheless.

Which players would this style of slot suit?

  • Both high stakes and low stakes players will benefit from this style of slot
  • High stakes players can up the anti
  • Low stakes players can lower the anti

How do multi-coin slots pay out?

If a symbol says it is worth x200 for a combination, this pay-out is referring to the pay out per coin. Therefore, if you have 5 coins per line, you will be paid out x200 coins per coin bet.

  • 5 coins per line
  • Symbol combination value: x200
  • 5 x 200 = 1,000 coin pay out

In effect, when you play multiple coins per line, you are cramming in more multiple spins into 1 spin. For instance, in the above example the spin bet was 5 coins per line. You could in fact just bet 1 coin per line and get 5 spins; however, because in this scenario there are 5 coins, this is 5 spins crammed into 1 spin.

  • Betting 5 coins per line on 1 spin is basically cramming in 5 spins into 1 high value spin

No-pay line 243/1024 ways to win

You may have come across the Microgaming initiated 243 Ways to Win no pay line slots. These slots are basically fixed pay line slots. In general, you will be forced to place 25 coins per spin if it is the 243 ways to win slot.

For the higher up versions of no pay-line slots, you are looking at about 40 to 50 coins per spins as a minimum. This would be for the 2014 ways to win style slot.

We thought it would be important to add this to this article as there may be some confusion in the way that these slots work.

Round Up

Different slot developers will give you different ways to wager on the slot. Other slot developers like Microgaming will give you a range of options from line bets to coin bets. You will need to quickly study the slot that you select to understand the betting patterns the slot uses.

It really does not take long at all to get used to each concept, and after a while moving from slot to slot, you will be able to adapt to each new style of betting the slot demands in order for you to get the reels spinning.

In the end, slot developers have made it easy for low and high stakes slots players to all play the same style slot machine at a spin bet rate that is affordable to the player.
